Drum Corps International Show in Charlotte on Sunday, July 27, 2008

This is optional activity for the marching band members, but strongly urged and highly encouraged. As of today, 7 of the top 12 drum and bugle corps in the world will be performing in Charlotte on Sunday, July 27. Highlighting the show will be the 12 time World Champion Blue Devils from Concord, California, and the 7 time World Champion The Cavaliers from Rosemount, Illinois. This is the hometown show for Carolina Crown (Ft. Mill, SC), currently tied for 3rd place which would be the highest finish ever for the South Carolina Corps. Carolina Crown has already defeated The Cadets (9 time World Champion) twice this season. Contact Kathleen Kesserling at kathkess at yahoo dot com if you are interested in carpooling to this show. Show starts at 7 PM in Charlotte. Tickets can be purchased from the Crown website at http://crownevents.carolinacrown.org.

A night with family, friends, and Holly Springs HS Band members, August 7, 2008

In what is becoming a tradition for the Holly Springs High School Band, summer band camp will end early on Thursday, August 7, so members can attend the Drum Corps International World Championship Quarterfinals at the movie theatre in North Hills Shopping Center. The show starts at 6:00 PM, and tickets sell out very quickly. This is the only opportunity in this area to watch the Championships live without being in Indianapolis. The best drum and bugle corps in the world will be performing. This is an optional, but highly encouraged event for ALL members of the Golden Hawks Regiment and their families. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.fathomevents.com. Again, do not delay, as this event will sell out quickly...

The current current DCI standings as of July 17 are available here: dci-08.pdf.
