    Mr. Michael E. Biasi is in his 33rd  year of teaching and 21st as Director of Bands at Holly Springs High

    School in Holly Springs, North Carolina. During his tenure at Holly Springs, the band program has consistently had a membership of over 100 members and earned significant honors, including consistent Superior

    Ratings at the North Carolina Music Performance Adjudication and numerous awards at local and

    regional marching band events and indoor winter activities. Several members of the program have been

    selected to district, region, state and national honor bands. Recently, the Wind Ensemble was selected to

    perform at the Music for All Philadelphia Wind Festival, the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational in Atlanta, the NC Music Educators Conference,and The President’s Cup in Washington, DC. The marching band has performed at six Bands of America Regional Championships.  He is fortunate to work with a talented staff that have led our Winter Guards and Indoor Percussion units to three Winter Guard International World Championship finalist positions as well as numerous Atlantic Indoor Association championships and top three finalists.

    Prior to arriving at Holly Springs High School, Mr. Biasi served as the Director of Bands at Southwest

    Onslow High School (Jacksonville, NC), Associate Director of Bands at Jacksonville High School and

    Kecoughtan High School (Hampton, VA), and Director of Bands at Smithfield Middle School (VA).

    Mr. Biasi is a native of Yorktown, Virginia and a graduate of Tabb High School.. He received his

    education at East Carolina University. While at East Carolina, Mr. Biasi was an honor student and held officer positions in the National Association for Music Education Collegiate, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series, and the Newman Catholic Student Center.

    Mr. Biasi has also served as a performer, clinician, and adjudicator. He has performed as a clarinetist with

    the Triangle Wind Ensemble, the Virginia Wind Symphony, The Das Festhaus Band /Busch Gardens in

    Williamsburg, VA, The Onslow Winds, and in several musical productions. Mr. Biasi is a member of the

    North Carolina Bandmasters Association, East Central District Bandmasters Association, National Band

    Association, North Carolina Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education and

    Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently serves as the East Central District high school representative on the state Music Performance Adjudication committee and was the Fine Arts Department Chair at Holly Springs High School

    from 2006-2021.  Mr Biasi has been recognized as a Teacher of the Year nominee for the 2021-2022 and 2024-2025 school years.  He currently serves as the Fine Arts Representative on the School Improvement Team.

    Mr. Biasi resides in Fuquay-Varina, with his wife of nineteen years Katie, and his children Clara (senior at Fuquay-Varina HS) and Joseph (8th grader at Fuquay-Varina MS)

    Hi! Liz Jenkins here! I am native of Carteret County where I began my music and guard career at Croatan High School! I attended East Carolina University for my Bachelors in Music Education and a few years later attended Samford University for my Master in Music Education. I have been playing euphonium and apart of guard since 2002! I was a cast member of CVP Encore for three years and was a tech for CVP A for two years. I have been a tech for various bands around the state during marching and winter seasons. I have an amazing husband, Wesley, and my loving husky Kate! I love to play video games, read books, play board games, and put together Legos! I am currently an elementary music teacher at Brier Creek Elementary in Raleigh NC. I am excited to be a tech for HSHS guard and band for the almost third year! Go Hawks!

    Ryan Wing is the Director of Bands at Lufkin Road Middle School and grew up in Holly Springs, NC. Mr. Wing earned the Bachelor of Music in Music Education from The University of Utah. While in the state of Utah, his primary clarinet teachers were Dr. Jaren Hinckley and Kathy Pope.

    During his time at The University of Utah, Mr. Wing was a performing member of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Utes, and various chamber groups. He served as Drum Major for the Marching Utes for 4 years, including 2 performances in the "Tournament of Roses" Parade and "Rose Bowl" Game in 2022 and 2023.

    Before Mr. Wing's appointment at Lufkin Road, he completed his student teaching at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, NC under the direction of Ms. Renee Todd. In both North Carolina and Utah, Mr. Wing has taught privately on flute, clarinet, and saxophone and served as a woodwind clinician and technician for multiple schools on both the middle and high school level.

  • Jaylan Glenn is the Percussion Director for the Holly Springs High School Marching Band. He is very passionate about the developmental stages of young musicians. He loves to challenge his students to grow both as individuals and musicians through a diligent mindset. Jaylan hopes to be a safe space for his students and build a home for inspiration and extraordinary growth. He believes that being a musician means speaking a very special language that has the ability to touch a heart without ever saying a word.

    Jaylan has been a Private Percussion teacher for a decade. His private students stretch between Johnston and Wake County, covering about 8 schools from intermediate levels to advanced and mature collegiate level percussionists. His private students have been very successful, participating in their respective All County, All District, All State honors bands, and achieving goals in top percussion ensembles in the WGI and DCI idioms. Prior to joining Felton Grove, Jaylan was the percussion director at Corinth Holders High School, where he built the only scholastic world class percussion ensemble in the state of North Carolina. He also works with a rotation of middle schools in his area to help develop musicianship and pedagogical experience in a master class learning environment.

    Outside of the Pageantry Arts, Jaylan works as a Security Specialist, managing and training bouncers and supplying private security as needed to musical artists. He is also a competitive Powerlifter, competing in North/South Carolina and occasionally Virginia, with hopes of reaching a national level of competitiveness. To stay connected within the pageantry arts, Jaylan is an active member of the WGI Advisory Board and CWEA Advisory Board, where he helps adjust adjudication for performers and enhances the general experience within the pageantry arts.

  • Tim Besel is the Music Teacher at McGees Crossroads Middle School in Benson, NC.

    Mr. Besel was a member of the World Champion Cadets of Bergen County where he won two gold medals in 1990 and 1993. He aged out as the Front Ensemble section leader.

    Mr. Besel graduated in 1997 with a degree in Music Education from West Virginia University where he was a member of the WVU Percussion Ensemble as well as the WVU World Music Program. 

    For the past 29 years, he has been teaching middle school and high school band in Johnston County. He has taken students to  the All-District and All-State Honor Bands, and has helped his groups earn ratings of Excellent and Superior at the NC MPA.

    Mr. Besel was the Associate Director of Bands at Corinth-Holders High School, where he instructed the WGI World Class Concert Percussion Ensemble, created the CHHS High School Beginner Band Program, and accompanied the band to London, England, where they performed in the London New Year's Day Parade.

    Mr. Besel lives in Clayton with his wife, Cathy.

  • Brandon Agee is a percussionist and educator based in Johnston County, North Carolina. A native of Garner, Mr. Agee earned his Bachelor of Music in both Music Education and Music Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

    A lifelong percussionist with seventeen years of experience in the discipline, Mr. Agee’s background spans nearly two decades of performance and study. This extensive foundation led him to the percussion, large ensemble, and jazz departments at UNCG, where he was a performing member of the UNCG Wind Ensemble for four years. During this time, he participated in numerous premiere concerts and professional recording sessions, while further specializing his expertise in front ensemble pedagogy and concert percussion literature.

    As an educator, Mr. Agee has been instructing percussion ensembles since 2021. He has served as a clinician and technician for several high school programs across North Carolina and Virginia, including Patrick County High School, Clayton High School, Cleveland High School, Randleman High School, and Northwest Guilford High School. In these roles, he focuses on developing students’ technical proficiency and musicality through both individual and ensemble-based instruction.

    Currently, Mr. Agee serves as a percussion instructor and substitute teacher. He remains a dedicated contributor to the competitive marching arts and concert percussion fields, committed to sharing his lifelong passion and technical knowledge with the next generation of aspiring musicians.

    Luke Oglesby

    Luke Oglesby grew up in Eastern North Carolina where he attended Croatan High School and East Carolina University. Luke received his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Luke worked as an educator for 4 years before going back to East Carolina to receive his masters in school administration in 2019. He is currently working as an educator in Johnston County.

    Samantha began her color guard career in 2009 and has performed with programs including Clayton High School, Corinth Holders High School, East Carolina University Marching Pirates, Legacy Independent, U.S Army All-American Marching Band, and First Flight World. She began teaching in 2015 and currently serves as a weapon technician and choreographer for Holly Springs Colorguard and Winterguard.

    When she’s not doing guard, Samantha works full-time in social media marketing for a healthcare system and operates her own photography and videography business. Outside of guard, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog! 

    My colorguard performing experience began at Croatan. I marched Croatan Independent World from 2007-2009. I then went on to perform with First Flight World from 2010-2020 and recently was a member of the Pride of Cincinnati for the 2021 winter season.

    My colorguard teaching experience began with Northern Nash High School from 2010-2013. I then was offered a position as assistant director for the East Carolina University Marching Pirates Colorguard in the fall of 2013. I was fortunate enough to have the ability to start their first competitive winter program in 2014. I was named director in the fall of 2014 and took the ECU Winterguard to the World Championships in 2015 where they made the semi-finals. I taught ECU up until 2016 and then moved to the Raleigh area where I taught Wakefield High school and Panther Creek High School in 2017. I had the privilege of being a colorguard technician for Carolina Crown in 2017. I returned to the ECU colorguard the two years I was receiving my masters degree until moving to Clayton, NC. I have been writing for Carolina Visual Production since 2019 and will continue to work with them this coming winter season. I am currently in my third year as the colorguard director at Holly Springs High School. I am also the Co-Director at Corinth Holders High School and technician/choreographer at Panther Creek High School.

    Hi, my name is Rebekah Phillips! I’m a Holly Springs HS guard alum ('23) and have been a proud member of First Flight since 2024. I’m currently a senior Exercise Science major and Psychology minor at Appalachian State University, working toward a career as an Occupational Therapist. 


    Caleigh got her start in the colorguard world at Wake Forest High School in 2010. She has performed with the Pride of the Mountains Color Guard (WCU), Olympic Independent, the Bluecoats, and First Flight World. 

    She began colorguard education in 2015 and has since taught color and winter guard programs across multiple states. She currently directs the UNC Chapel Hill Color Guard in addition to working full time as a teacher at Wilson’s Mills High School.
